Our client base is diverse. From sole traders, partnerships and multi-million pound companies to Clubs, Charities and Residential Landlords. Our accountancy practice of Torevell Dent was formed in April 1986. We know about business – we’ve run and sold several, successfully, for over 35 years. We quickly became established and acknowledged as providers of high quality financial and business advice by our clients, banks, HMRC and other local professionals as we opened branches in Skipton, Harrogate, Bradford and Huddersfield.
Having successfully sold our North Yorkshire branches and our Financial Services company some years ago, we have retained a presence in Halifax, Bradford and Huddersfield where we are well placed to provide a complete range of services to clients throughout West Yorkshire and via technology, well beyond.

MEET THE TEAM
At Torevell Dent, the partners are supported by a team of dedicated and highly experienced staff providing a complete support network to meet the needs of all of our clients.
Mike trained with a local firm of Chartered Accountants and then spent seven years in industry gaining valuable commercial experience. He re-entered the profession in 1980 and, later, with Ian Dent, formed the present practice.
Mike specialises in dealing with small and medium-sized companies and in the development and growth of their business. His particular passion is in the mentoring of new fledgling start-up businesses.
Mike is a past president of the West Yorkshire District Society of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Michael trained with a Bradford firm of Chartered Accountants and gained promotion to the level of Senior Manager of a ‘big four’ firm. After a short spell in industry, he joined Torevell Dent in October 1992 as partner in charge of the Bradford office.
Michael has a wealth of experience helping clients in all areas, including corporates, individuals, partnerships, and the charitable sector.
Andrew has been with Torevell Dent for over 25 years and has extensive experience dealing with sole trader businesses, partnerships and limited company statutory accounts.
In his spare time he enjoys playing golf.
Kat was born and raised in Bradford. She originally trained as a precision tool and cutter grinder within the engineering industry but due to family circumstances re-trained for a career move into the accountancy profession.
Kat is responsible for the majority of Torevell Dent’s book keeping and VAT clients and spends a lot of time with clients assisting and training them on various book keeping packages such as QuickBooks and Sage.
In her spare time, and when she is not cuddling with her 3-legged, blind, senile cat or hyper-active Bearded Dragon, Kat enjoys trying different crafts and is currently dabbling with decoupage and designing Russian Dolls.
Jane was born and brought up in Bradford and has worked in the accountancy industry as a practice administrator for over 20 years. Based in our Bradford office, Jane looks after the internal administration needs of the office as well as assisting with the majority of our Bradford based clients.
Jane has 4 grandchildren and also enjoys walking, reading, knitting and crocheting. She also looks forward to meeting up with family and friends on a regular basis.
Sophie was born in Oxford but has grown up in Halifax. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family as well as going on holiday to different countries.
After completing her A-Levels at Hipperholme & Lightcliffe Sixth Form, Sophie began her career at Torevell Dent in 2014 as an administration apprentice. Soon after completion of her apprenticeship she moved into the Payroll department as Payroll Assistant and has since further advanced her career within the tax department.
Sophie has recently completed her ATT studies and is now a qualified Tax Technician. She assists in the preparation and completion of personal tax returns, rental income statements and deals with a vast amount of the correspondence with HMRC for both the Halifax and the Bradford Offices.

Sharon joined Torevell Dent in 2004 as a payroll administrator and gained her Diploma in Payroll Management through the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals in 2007.
Sharon is the payroll manager of Torevell Dent, overseeing and dealing with all aspects of payroll for all Torevell Dent clients.

Nic joined the company in 2006.
He qualified as an Accounting Technician in 1991 and subsequently as a Chartered Certified Accountant. He now enjoys fellow membership of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
He has gained a wealth of experience over his many years in the profession, working with countless organisations ranging from the smallest sole trader business to Public Limited Company audit clients.
Following completion of her ACCA qualifications Sam joined a six-partner firm based in Leeds City centre and gained valuable experience dealing with a wide range of clients and becoming the senior team member in some of the larger audit assignments.
Sam joined Torevell Dent in 2003 as a Senior Accountant and was appointed as a director in 2006. Sam is responsible for the firm’s statutory audit clients within both the commercial and charity sectors and is also paramount in meeting the needs of many of Torevell Dent’s company clients along with helping and advising the smaller business clients of the practice.
In her spare time Sam enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with her family and two dogs; having the occasional run out on a hockey pitch and generally socialising with friends and family.
Philip began his career with the Inland Revenue before moving to a five-partner firm based in Huddersfield.
In 1991 Philip joined Torevell Dent to set up a dedicated taxation department specialising in personal and corporate tax advice and mitigation. He was appointed Tax Director of the firm in 2002.

Andrew was born in and around the Huddersfield area and was educated locally.
Andrew joined Torevell Dent in 1996 and is now assistant manager of the Huddersfield branch. He has experience dealing with limited companies, charities, partnerships, and sole trader businesses. He also has experience in VAT and book-keeping and has knowledge in taxation and PAYE.
Andrew lives in Brighouse with his wife and fluffy kids and enjoys playing video games, reading, holidays and walking.
Liz was born in Essex and brought up in Derbyshire before moving to Halifax in 1988 to run a pub in Ripponden along with her husband and Father-in-Law.
Liz began her career with Torevell Dent in July 1997 as a payroll and bookkeeping clerk and has progressed over the years to Practice Administrator. Liz is responsible for assisting in the smooth operational running of the Practice.
In her spare time Liz is a keen runner, enjoys walking and visiting her local pubs.
Carol joined the firm as receptionist and office administrator in 2019 and provides support for the Halifax directors and the Torevell Dent team, as well as helping provide an efficient and friendly service for all of our clients contacting or visiting the Halifax office.
Kay is currently working hard to complete her final exams for the ACCA qualification.
She has had experience preparing the accounts for many different types of businesses ranging from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies.
As well as being involved in assisting many of our charitable sector clients Kay also assists in the audits of our small and medium sized companies.
Kathryn joined Torevell Dent in 2016 as a payroll administrator and works hand in hand with a large number of payroll clients.

After leaving school with some good GCSE grades Jacob began his work career in the family business as a hairdresser/barber. After completing his apprenticeship in this area, he decided it wasn’t quite for him and, wanting to put his excellent maths skills to use, decided on a change of career into accountancy. Jacob is now working hard to complete his AAT level 2 apprenticeship at Torevell Dent. In his spare time Jacob enjoys playing 5 a-side football with friends, competing weekly in a local league, as well as socialising with friends and generally keeping himself busy.
